BR2-06: The Story of Chocolate

It's the world's most popular treat, but where does chocolate come from? And why is it so delicious? Discover the bean behind each bar and follow its journey from the American rainforest to factories everywhere.
     A thousand years ago, chocolate was big secret. Only a few people drank it and nobody ate it. By the way, monkeys knew all about the small cocoa tree that grew strange, bright pods. They liked to break them open and suck out the sweet, white pulp. Then they spat out the bitter beans that were in the middle. One day, a farmer copied the monkeys and tasted a pod. And a few years later, to avoid hiking into the jungle for pods, the farmers planted cocoa trees in their own fields. The farmers were members of a huge group of people called Mayans. Before long, chocol baa was an important part of Mayan life. But how to eat chocolate changed rapidly with the change of the times. Today, we can buy many kind of chocolates almost anywhere in the world. It was interesting that how to make chocolates.
